We welcome your pets when you stay with us
We are dog owners ourselves and wanted our cottages to be dog-friendly from the outset. Both Stanegate Cottage and Drakestone Cottage have fully enclosed gardens and the living/kitchen/hallway areas have easy to clean flooring – and dogs love relaxing in front of our cosy wood burning stoves!
We do not charge for pets as we feel they are members of the family, but do ask that guests care for our properties and clean up after their pet in return. If you forget something for your dog, we keep a few items in our cottages for guests to use during their stay:
- dog bowls
- dog treats
- baby bath or outside tap for washing dirty paws
- ‘on holiday’ dog tags
- stair gates
- dog crate (on request, just ask in advance of your arrival)
Northumberland is a very dog-friendly county. Many tourist attractions, beaches, pubs, cafes and restaurants allow dogs – you can find some of these here.
However, both cottages are also suitable for guests without dogs as we are very particular with our cleaning – there are no ‘doggy smells’ as reported by several guests who stayed without a pet! We are also regularly inspected by VisitEngland to ensure we are keeping our cottages up to their 4* standards whether guests bring a dog with them or not.
Our customers’ dogs do pose well for the camera. If you would like to share a photo of your dog staying with us, just attach it here and we will add it to our gallery.
