Are you a National Trust member?
There are lots of National Trust places to see in Northumberland, including Cragside, home to pioneer engineer Lord Armstrong and the first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectricity. Cragside is about 9 miles from Drakestone Cottage, a must place to visit.
Also, Sycamore Gap, the tree which is cared for by the Trust, sits in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall and won UK Tree of the Year in 2016. The walk to it is one of the most spectacular sections of Hadrian’s Wall!
National trust tickets can be purchased at any of their locations, either as an annual membership or one-off visitor ticket.
