Interested in taking part in The Cheviots Challenge on 2nd September 2017?
The Cheviots Challenge is a long distance walk in the Cheviot Hills of Northumberland, open to walkers and fell runners. Its purpose is to raise much needed funds for the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team (NNPMRT). NNPMRT (together with the North of Tyne Search and Rescue Team) is responsible for search and rescue of people within the Northumbria Police Authority and, when requested, will respond to assist similar rescue teams in adjoining areas. The Cheviots Challenge is organised by a small group of people comprising of past and current members of the NNPMRT.
There are two routes:
The Terry Lynn long route is about 23 miles and over 4000 feet of climbing and will include Cushat Law, Cairn Hill, Windy Gyle, Nettlehope Hill, Clennell Street.
The Eileen Lynn short route is about 18 miles and over 3000 feet of climbing and will include Cushat Law, Salters Road, Nettlehope Hill, Clennell Street.
