Fourstones village, Hadrian’s Wall Country near Hexham in Northumberland
Situated on what used to be the Roman stone road ‘The Stanegate’ in the village of Fourstones near Hexham on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, this self-catering holiday cottage is in a great location for exploring UNESCO World Heritage Site Hadrian’s Wall Country and the surrounding area including Newcastle upon Tyne, Kielder Water & Forest, the North East coast and Beamish Museum. There are nice walks from the cottage around the village and river, and the Hadrian’s Cycleway passes the front door. The village store is a short walk from the cottage and there are two pubs within a two mile radius, one under a mile away. The attractive market town of Hexham is four miles away with a wide range of shops and amenities, an Abbey, a race course and the Old Gaol, England’s first purpose-built prison, now a museum.
